⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ After moving to Ballarat three years ago, we often found ourselves travelling to Melbourne just to satisfy our craving for authentic Malaysian food. But not anymore — thanks to Jalan Jalan Eats, our local gem! If you know a Malaysian, you’ll understand how deeply our multicultural roots are reflected through our food. It’s how we connect, celebrate, and share moments — we always say “makan and lepak” (eat and chill) is our way of life! With Jalan Jalan Eats, our family finally feels at home, even miles away from home. Every dish brings back the flavours and memories we’ve missed so much. Jalan Jalan Eat serves the most authentic Malaysian food I’ve had in ages! The nasi lemak was fragrant and tasty. The rojak here was absolutely delicious! Every bite was full of flavour — the crispy fritters, and fresh veggies went perfectly with the rich, sweet-and-spicy peanut sauce. The sauce was the star of the show — thick, fragrant, and packed with that authentic taste you just can’t get enough of. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was cozy and relaxed — perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. Prices were reasonable too for the quality and portion sizes.

I was simply filled with joy that Ballarat finally has an authentic Malaysian Cafe. Right in the beautiful suburb of Lake Gardens, this place is absolutely fitting for it. The menu itself contains a variety of classic Malaysian dishes and drinks. Giving us many reasons to come back and try some more. For the price itself, I find them very reasonable in this economy. We ordered the following dishes after looking through them meticulously: Father's Day High Tea - consisted of many little Malaysian bites from curry puffs, sandwiches, burgers, satay skewers and Tea Tarik. Roti Canai Nasi Lemak Ayam Mee Goreng We did have to wait awhile for our food to come out but we understood why thay was the case. A lot of the things they made are done from scratch and it was reflected on the food. Nice flavours presented with the dishes we had. The winner of the dish definitely goes to the Mee Goreng. A nice little cafe with such friendly service from the wonderful staff. Looking forward to try more dishes and I got my eye on the Roti John.

A great hidden gem in Lake Gardens! Authentic Malaysian Hawker style food! Ballarat is becoming a food destination! This establishment had only been open just over a month and still fine tuning their systems, but kindly the waitress informed us know there will be quite a wait for lunch on Sunday. We were surprised when we walked in there was only one free table available. as all the tables were full. Shows that the word is getting around town! We were more than happy to wait. And it was well worth it! As a first time we chose the Nasi Lemak Ayam & Kuey Teow Goreng. The chicken was amazing in the Nasi Lemak Ayam, and the flavours on the Kuey Teow Goreng made us wipe the plate clean. The only let down was the noodles were all congealed but the flavours certainly made up for it. From what we heard there is only the mother cooking in the kitchen, so a fast meal on the go may not be an option.

Delicious traditional Malaysian dishes in a modern relaxing space. Think Nasi Lemak, Kuay Teow, Roti Canai etc. plus street food style burgers. Special mention to the very tasty Apam Balik (crispy pancakes filled with peanut, sweetcorn and sugar) and Teh Tarik. Worth seeking out for late breakfast or lunch. Plenty of options for a light snack or something more substantial.
